LIVEONTHEMAP is a travel site built by a couple who love exploring the world together — and who want to help you plan your own trips with clear, practical information. Not long essays. Not a wall of ads. Just what you need to decide where to stay, what to see, where to eat, and how to put the days together.
We started in Europe — walking the old towns of Spain and Italy, crossing lakes in Switzerland, chasing golden light in Paris, lingering in the cafés of Budapest, Prague and Vienna. From there the map keeps growing: North, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Asia. Wherever we go, we bring back the same thing: the practical details that make planning easier, and the places we would happily return to ourselves.
Why we started LIVEONTHEMAP
Most travel sites either bury you in ads or stretch a simple tip into thousands of words. We wanted something different: short enough to read before you book, clear enough to trust, and useful enough to actually build a trip plan from — hotels, food, must-sees, tours, day trips, and the practical notes that save time on the ground.
So every destination page is built the same way: what not to miss, where to stay, where to eat, tours and day trips worth your time, plus how to get there and simple tips for your days. No filler. No pressure. Just the information we wish someone had handed us the first time we planned each trip.
How we choose what to share
We write from places we have actually visited. Hotels, restaurants and experiences earn a place on the page because they delivered something memorable — a view, a meal, a walk that made the city click — not because someone paid for a ranking.
When we use affiliate links (for example to hotels or experiences), we say so. If you book through them, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. That support helps us keep the site running without turning every page into a wall of banners. You can read the full note on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
Where we have been (so far)
LIVEONTHEMAP is growing destination by destination. Europe is already on the map — Spain, Italy, Switzerland, France, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Austria, Germany, the UK and more. Next we are opening the same kind of practical pages for places across North, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Asia: the stays, the meals, the must-sees and the day plans that help you turn a pin on the map into a real trip.
Each page is a living note from our trips: updated when we learn something better, kept focused so you can plan without drowning in options. If something changes on the ground — a restaurant closes, a path is redirected — we appreciate a message on our Contact page so we can fix it.
Thank you for being here
If you are planning a trip and something on these pages helps you choose a neighbourhood, a walk or a table with a view, that is exactly why LIVEONTHEMAP exists. Travel is better when the plan feels personal. We hope this site feels like a note from friends who went ahead — and saved you a few wrong turns.
Wherever you are going next: pack light, leave room for one unplanned afternoon, and enjoy the map.
